What is the best way to clean my stainless steel range?

For best results when cleaning your stainless steel range:
• Clean it using warm, soapy water and a clean sponge or cloth. Do not use an abrasive cloth or pad.
• Always rinse your range thoroughly with clean water. If the soap or other cleanser isn’t rinsed off, it might produce a permanent bluish stain once the range is heated.
• After you’ve rinsed it, dry the range with a soft, clean cloth.

Tip: If you choose to use a kitchen cleanser rather than soapy water, use only cleansers that are specially made for cleaning stainless steel – avoid harsh scrubbing cleansers.

What should I do if my range does not appear to be level?

If your range does not appear to be level, try the following:
• Adjust the range’s leveling legs. It’s possible that your oven was not level when it was installed. To check this, simply place a rack in the center of the oven, then place a level on the rack and adjust the leveling legs.
• Check your kitchen cabinet alignment. The position of your cabinets may make your oven appliance appear to not be level. Be sure your cabinets are square, and that they leave sufficient room for appliance clearance.
• Be sure your kitchen floor is level. Check your floor to be sure it’s level, strong, and stable enough to adequately support the appliance. If the floor is sagging or sloping, you might want to contact a carpenter to correct it.

Why is my gas burner's flame orange instead of blue?

You might see an orange flame if there are dust particles in your main gas line. Simply turn your burner on for a few minutes, until the flame turns blue.

Note: In coastal areas, it is normal to regularly see a flame that is slightly orange. This is caused by the salt in the air.

If your cooktop’s electric burners don’t turn on, check the following:
• The control. Be sure to use the correct control for the element needed and ensure that it is ON.
• The heat setting. Turn the control to a slightly higher setting until the element comes on.
• Power to appliance. Reset the cooktop by turning the breaker off and then on again.

How can I prevent or remove brown streaks or marks on my electric or induction cooktop surface?

Brown streaks, spots, or other marks are most likely caused by food boiling over and then being cooked onto your oven’s surface. You can remove them by carefully using a razor blade to scrape them off.

Tip: Prior to using your cooktop for the first time, apply the recommended cooktop cleanser to the surface and buff using a nonabrasive cloth or pad. This will make future cleanup of food easier, and the special cooktop cleansing cream leaves a protective finish that helps prevent scratches.

What should I do if my induction cooktop doesn’t seem to be heating?

If your cooktop doesn’t seem to be heating, it might be because:
• You need to check the placement of your cookware. If you have an induction cooktop, be sure that the bottom of your pot or pan is large enough for the cooking zone you’re using, and that it is centered on it.
• Your cookware isn’t compatible with an induction cooktop. Our induction cooktop surfaces are compatible with most cookware you might use – if a magnet sticks to the bottom of your pot or pan, it will work on an induction cooktop.
• No cookware was placed on your induction cooktop. If you’re using an induction cooktop, it will not turn on unless a pot or pan has been placed on it.
• The cooktop’s control needs to be adjusted. Make sure the right control is turned on for the element you’re using, and that the setting isn’t too low. (Try turning it to a slightly higher setting until the element turns on.)
• The power cord isn’t plugged in.
• The wiring is not complete. Contact your local dealer, installing agent, or authorized service provider, or contact Electrolux at 1-877-4 ELECTROLUX

What is the difference between a built-in and a freestanding range or stove?

• A built-in range is designed to slide in and fit flush with your countertop. This is ideal for an island and can also be used in a regular setting to showcase a decorative backsplash. With a built-in range (also called a slide-in range), the cooktop and oven controls are at the front of the appliance.
• A freestanding range is used in traditional installations (against the kitchen wall), and typically has controls at the back of the cooktop.

What is perfect convect3®, and how does convection cooking work?

Electrolux ranges offer Perfect Convect3®, which features a third convection element for consistently even results, up to 30% faster cooking times, and even more baking options.

Convection cooking is cooking with the added advantage of airflow circulation, which allows for a more even distribution of heat. By using the forced flow of hot air, convection cooking produces the following benefits:
• Cooking time is approximately 25 – 30% faster than in conventional ovens, saving energy.
• The more even distribution of heat results in food that is more evenly baked.
• Generally, less heat is required than with a conventional oven – a convection oven usually cooks at 25°F below a conventional oven's required temperature. So simply program your oven according to your recipe’s temperature requirements and press “Convection Conversion,” and the oven will automatically convert the temperature.

What should I do if only part of my gas burner shows a flame?

If your burner is only partially lit, it could be because it is clogged. Be sure to turn the burner off, then use a small-gauge wire or needle to clean its openings.

A partial flame might also be caused by moisture remaining in the burner after it has been cleaned. If you think this might be the case, lightly fan the flame and allow the burner to operate until the flame is full.

Cookware made of aluminum, copper, or glass (including Pyrex) is not compatible with an induction cooktop. In addition, some types of stainless steel may not work on an induction surface, or may heat very slowly.

Tip: Do not let your pots or pans boil dry. Doing so may cause permanent damage to a ceramic cooktop (breakage, fusion, or marring that is not covered by your warranty).

What is induction and how does it work?

With faster, more responsive heating, more energy-efficient cooking and easier cleaning, induction takes cooking to a whole new level. It combines the benefits of gas and electric cooktops – merging the power of gas with the easy cleanup of electric.

Using electromagnetic energy, heat is transferred directly to the cookware, so the cooktop remains cooler. And induction allows for more precise control when cooking – you can instantly adjust the heat to a delicate simmer or bring it to a quick boil.

What can I do to ensure the best results when cooking with my range with induction cooktop?

There are many factors that can affect cooking, but you can help ensure best results by following these recommendations:
• Use heavier, high-quality cookware that is compatible with induction. High-quality cookware that is heavier and has a flat bottom will help your food cook more evenly.
• Use the correct size cookware. The two induction cooking zones available on the cooktop require a specific pan size to be used at each location. The inner ring of each cooking zone is your guide to the correct minimum pan size. The pan bottom must fully cover the inner ring for proper cooking to occur. The thicker outer ring around each cooking zone is helpful to determine the maximum pan size.
• Adjust the recipe's suggested temperature or cooking time. Your induction cooktop provides exceptional temperature control that allows you to adjust heat with greater accuracy than gas or electric cooktops, especially at lower settings. It’s perfect for melting chocolate and cooking delicate foods and sauces.

Will a draft blowing through my kitchen affect my ventilation hood’s performance?

For the best ventilation of your kitchen, the only air currents should be those that are created by the ventilation hood.

While you’re cooking, try to reduce drafts in your kitchen as much as you can. A draft that blows across your range or cooktop can cause the heat, steam, moisture, grease, and aromas to escape from your ventilation hood.

Helpful?

When should I turn on the ventilation hood?

To ensure the most effective performance, turn on your ventilation hood a few minutes before cooking. This will establish the upward air currents that will carry away the heat, smoke, moisture, grease, or cooking aromas that might be produced. Keep your ventilation hood turned on for about five minutes after you have finished cooking.

What is the best fan speed to use if I have a gas range/stove or a gas cooktop?

For gas cooktops, it’s best to use the lowest fan setting on your ventilation hood. In general, you’ll know you need to lower the fan speed if the gas flame is being blown by the air movement, if the burner continually sparks or clicks, or if the burner flame repeatedly blows out.

What should I do if my dishes aren’t as clean as I would like after I run my dishwasher?

If you see food particles on your dishes after they have been run through the dishwasher’s cycle, try the following:
• Choose a cycle with a longer wash time, especially if dishes are extra soiled.
• Be sure that the dishwasher racks are properly loaded. Avoid overcrowding.
• Check with your local utility company to ensure that the water pressure in your home is between 20 and 120 psi (pounds per square inch).
• Check to determine whether you have hard water. If so, you may need a water softener. To determine your water hardness, contact your water supplier or county extension office.
• Use fresh detergent, because old detergent is not always effective.
• Check to see that the dishwasher’s spray arms are not blocked.
• Be sure that the water coming into your dishwasher is hot water. The water should be at least 120°F (49°C).

Sometimes my dishwasher doesn’t seem to drain all the water out of the bottom. What should I do?

If it seems like your dishwasher should drain faster, try the following:
• If your dishwasher is connected to a garbage disposal, run the disposal to clear the drain system.
• If you have a new garbage disposal, or if it’s the first time you’ve used your dishwasher, the “knock-out” plug might need to be removed from the disposal. (This step can occasionally be overlooked during installation.)
• Check the drain hose to be sure it is free of kinks.
• Make sure the wash cycle is complete, and not paused.

My dishwasher cycle takes longer than I expected. Is that normal?

Electrolux dishwashers have a variety of cycles for you to choose from, depending on your cleaning needs and preferred timing. The different options can impact the time it takes for a wash cycle to complete. Some options that impact the running time of a cycle include:

• The delay start option, which will postpone the start of the cycle until the time you have selected. It is designed to allow you to control when your dishwasher runs – choose to have it run it when it’s most convenient for you, or to coincide with lower energy rates.
• The sanitize option, which takes longer to wash and dry. This option uses higher heat for maximum cleaning, and offers maximum drying capabilities.
It can also be normal for the wash cycle to be momentarily delayed if water needs to be heated to the appropriate temperature.

What are the advantages of a Front Load Washer over standard top-load washers?

The Electrolux Premium Laundry Collection has amazing features that allow you to effortlessly keep up with your family’s wardrobe changes.

Electrolux front load washers have many advantages over standard top-load washers:

  • Front load washers have no center agitator and rely on tumbling to wash gently and rinse completely. This helps your clothes feel fresher and last longer.
  • Front load washers save energy and water by automatically sensing the amount of water your laundry load requires and adjusting the water level accordingly.
  • The installation options for front load washers are more flexible than standard top-load units, to better suit the style of your home and lifestyle. Many Electrolux models have reversible washer and dryer doors and all of them can be stacked. You can also create a more ergonomically friendly space by installing pedestal drawers if you prefer the washer and dryer side by side.

What is the best way to care and clean for my Electrolux Front Load Washer?

For optimal care of your washer, please refer to the guidelines included in your Use & Care Guide. However, here are some quick tips:

  • Promptly remove finished loads
  • Clean the top and sides of the washer with a damp cloth or mild soap and water. Be sure to avoid hard, gritty or abrasive cleansers.
  • Crack the door open when your washer is not in use to keep it fresh. Some models have a feature that props the door open when the washer is not in use.
  • When washing heavily soiled items, shake or brush off excess dirt and sand before putting them in the washer. If any dirt remains in the drum after washing, wipe it with a non-abrasive cleaner, then rinse.

Most models have a System Clean Cycle or Clean Washer Cycle and will automatically prompt you to run the cycle every 50 wash cycles. This feature uses hot water and two rinses to remove any odor-causing residue in your washer. Your Use & Care Guide will provide more information.

What type of detergent should I use with my Electrolux Front Load Washer?

Electrolux recommends using a high-efficiency (HE) detergent for front load washers. HE detergents are designed for front load washers like ours, which use lower water levels. They are also formulated to reduce soap suds and ensure proper cleaning.

Non-HE detergents may cause excessive generation of soap suds and result in detergent residue on your clothing at the end of the cycle.

Always refer to your detergent manufacturer instructions for the proper dosage. Do not fill any compartments in your dispenser beyond the maximum amount line.

We recommend liquid or powder detergent over the use of PODS in front load washers. We are unable to guarantee the pod will dissolve at the correct time during the wash cycle to ensure proper cleaning performance. If pods are used, please place the pod directly into the washer drum BEFORE placing laundry into the unit. This will help mix the detergent into the water. Do not place the pod in the detergent drawer as the gel coating may cause the detergent drawer to become clogged.

For Electrolux Compact washers only, what position should my dispenser flap be in?

For liquid detergent, ensure the flap is in the downward position. Add the recommended amount of liquid detergent to the Main Wash compartment.

For powder detergent, ensure the flap is in the upward position. Add the recommended amount of high-efficiency powder detergent to the Main Wash compartment.

What does Energy Star qualified mean and how can I tell if it applies to my unit?

Products that are Energy Star qualified use less energy than standard products. To earn the Energy Star rating, products must meet strict energy criteria set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the U.S. Department of Energy.  These products can help save money on your electricity bill and protect the environment by reducing harmful emissions from power plants, as well as providing all the features and quality you expect.

When shopping for an appliance, it’s easy to recognize the Energy Star label that identifies qualified products. This label signifies that the product passed stringent standards set by the U.S. Department of Energy.  Additionally, manufacturers are required to display their product’s test results on the Energy Star label. The label will tell you about the product’s efficiency level, including approximately how much energy the appliance uses, its average annual operating cost, and how its energy use compares with that of similar products.

What water temperature should I select when washing a load of laundry?

When choosing a water temperature, these are the basic points to consider:

  • Hot water cleans most effectively for heavily soiled items
  • Warm water can be used for most normally soiled loads.
  • Cold water is recommended for lightly soiled or brightly colored or dark items.

To compensate for a cooler wash, it may be necessary to soak or prewash heavily soiled items, increase wash time or use additional laundry products to boost the detergent’s cleaning power. Your Use & Care Guide will provide more information and helpful tips.

To protect your fabrics, not all temperatures are available with every cycle. If a temperature is not appropriate for the cycle, it cannot be selected. Your Electrolux Front Load Washer is smart. It will remember the temperature you select for a cycle and recall it each time until you change it.

All wash water temperatures are automatically regulated to maximize detergent effectiveness and improve washing performance. The water temperature can be affected by a variety of factors including the water heater setting and its distance from the washer, water usage in other parts of the home and seasonally low ground water temperature in some geographic areas.

If you want to increase the water temperature for your washer, consider the following:

  • Your water heater setting. It is recommended that you set your water heater to 120 degrees or higher to ensure proper performance.
  • Are you using an Energy Star rated appliance? Energy-saving washers have controls that supply cooler warm water as a means to save energy and money. These water temperatures may seem cooler than what you are used to in an older, high-energy-use machine; however, the washer is performing properly.
  • Some Electrolux Front Load Washers include a heater to automatically adjust the temperature of the water. The temperature setting is adjusted by the machine, depending on which cycle settings and options you select.

How do I use my detergent dispenser?

Based on your detergent choice, here are some helpful tips:

Liquid: Add high efficiency liquid detergent to the Main Wash – Liquid Only cup. Do not exceed the MAX fill line.

Powder: To use a high efficiency powder detergent, remove the Main Wash – Liquid Only cup and add the powder directly to the Main Wash detergent chamber. It’s important to save the liquid cup insert in case you need it for future use.

Pods: Place the pod directly into the washer drum BEFORE placing laundry into the unit. NOTE: We recommend liquid or powder detergent over the use of PODS in front load washers. We are unable to guarantee the pod will dissolve at the correct time during the wash cycle to ensure proper cleaning performance.

Liquid Bleach: If desired, add liquid chlorine bleach to the chamber labeled Liquid Bleach.

Liquid Fabric Softener: If desired, pour the recommended amount of liquid fabric softener into the chamber labeled Fabric Softener.

Stain Additives: For heavily soiled or stained loads, select the Stain option (StainTreat, StainTreat II, or StainSoak) and add the recommended amount of detergent or stain additive to the Pre-Wash chamber. See Cycle Options in your Use & Care Guide for more information about the Stain options for your model.

NOTE: Always refer to your detergent manufacturer instructions for the proper dosage. Do not fill any compartments in your dispenser beyond the maximum amount line.

What may cause my washer to vibrate?

If your washer is vibrating, it may be due to installation issues related to one of the reasons below:

  • The washer needs to be resting firmly on the floor. The washer must be level (both front to back and side to side), with each washer leg placed solidly on the floor. You can adjust the leveling legs by turning the legs slightly in or out until the washer sets solidly on the floor, then tighten the lock nuts. For maximum stability, leveling legs should not extend more than one-half inch below the washer bottom.
  • The washer needs to be installed on a sturdy, hard floor. It is not recommended that you install the washer on carpeting.
  • Shipping materials may not have been removed during the installation. You may refer to your Installation instructions to remove the five shipping bolts, five yellow spacers, and four plastic “P” clamps from the back of the washer. Make sure the Styrofoam shipping blocks have been removed from the bottom of the washer.
  • The load may be off balance. Pause the cycle, wait for the safety lock to release on the door, and redistribute the clothes evenly in the washer. If the load remains out of balance, simply add one or two similar items to the load and restart the washer.

If you are unable to resolve an issue or need more information, please contact us.

Is it normal for my washer to make sounds or noises?

It is normal for a heavy wash load to occasionally produce a thumping sound at the beginning of the Spin cycle. Belt buckles or other metal fasteners on items being washed may cause rattling or clanking sounds, too. You can fasten these items or turn garments inside out to reduce the sounds.

Rattling or clanking may also be caused by foreign objects (such as coins) in the drum. If you think this is the issue, stop the washer and check for any objects in the drum. If none are present and the sound continues, we recommend running an empty load to see if the noise still continues. This will allow you to determine if the noise is coming from the unit or an article that was being washed. If the noise is still present during the empty load, please contact us

What should I do if my washer does not start?

If your washer does not start, check the following:

  • Some models have a Power button that must be pressed before you select the wash cycle and options.
  • Once you have selected the wash cycle and options, don’t forget to press Start.
  • Some models have touch screens (similar to smartphones), which means you must use your fingertip to make selections on the control panel.
  • Make sure you have not unintentionally activated the Delay Start option.
  • The wash cycle is in a pause stage. This is normal, a pause occurs between the Wash and Spin cycles, with a longer pause occurring during the Soak cycle. With front load washers, normal pauses also occur as part of the reverse tumbling action. If the light next to the Start/Pause button is flashing, this may be an indication that the unit is paused. Press the Start/Pause button again to resume the cycle.
  • The power cord may not be plugged in or the connection may be loose. Check that your washer’s plug fits tightly into the wall outlet. Note: Do not use an extension cord. The power to the washer may be greatly reduced and not allow your washer to perform properly.
  • The door may not be closed. For your safety, the washer will not operate when the door is not closed properly.
  • The water valves must be turned on and water available to the unit.
  • Ensure the water pressure in your house is high enough for the unit to operate properly.
  • A fuse may be blown in your home, or a circuit breaker tripped. If this is the case, reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse (but do not increase the fuse capacity). If you have an overloaded circuit, please contact a qualified electrician.

My washer’s water level does not cover my laundry load. Is this normal?

Your Electrolux Front Load washer will automatically determine the proper water level for each load, you don’t have to do anything to adjust it. Because this type of washer is water efficient, it’s normal for the water level to always be below the bottom of the door.

Electrolux Front Load washers are designed to both maximize water usage and the cleaning of your laundry. You will notice significantly less water usage in your front load washer than you are used to seeing in other units, especially top-load washers. The addition of extra water may actually result in your laundry not being cleaned as well. Tumbling action and recirculating pumps help distribute the water and detergent to clean your laundry more efficiently.

How can I increase the water flow to my washer?

If water is flowing slowly into your washer, or not flowing at all, you might find a solution by checking the following:

  • Hot and cold water faucets. Be sure that your water supply faucets are completely open.
  • Water fill hoses. Check your water hoses to see if they are kinked. If so, simply straighten the hoses. You may need to replace the hoses if they do not remain straight.
  • Water pressure. Your washer needs sufficient water pressure to fill up properly. Depending on the water pressure in your home, which varies, you may want to avoid excessive water use elsewhere in your home while the washer is filling.
  • Water supply. Turn on another faucet in your home to check the water supply in your area. You may need to wait until your water supply and pressure increase before running your washer.
  • The filter on the water valve. If the filter screens on your water valve are clogged, turn off your water faucets and remove the hoses from the water valve connections on the back of the washer. Clean the filter screens, then reconnect the hoses and turn on the water. Check for any leaks at the connections and tighten if necessary.

If water is entering my washer but not filling it up, what should I do?

If water is flowing into your washer, but the drum does not fill, it might be due to one of the following reasons:

  • Water pressure. Your washer needs sufficient water pressure to fill. Depending on the water pressure in your home, which varies, you may want to avoid excessive water use elsewhere in your home while the washer is filling.
  • The drain standpipe length. To prevent siphoning off of incoming water, the standpipe cannot be too short, it must be at least 24 inches high.
  • The drain hose fit. If the drain hose fits too tightly in the standpipe, siphoning could result. Be sure there is a gap between the drain hose and the standpipe, and that the standpipe is at least one-and-one quarter inches in diameter.
  • The drain hose pushed too far down the standpipe. The drain hose should be securely inserted into the standpipe, but not so far down that it reaches the trap area of the standpipe plumbing.

If you have additional questions please refer to the Installation Instruction manual for your model.

Or you may contact us.

Is it normal for water to collect in the dispenser compartment?

Yes, it is normal for a small amount of water to remain in the dispenser drawer. This is a result of the siphoning action and part of the operation of the washer.  If you like, you can simply remove the dispenser drawer and empty the water. Don’t forget to regularly clean your dispenser drawer to prevent clogs and buildup. For more information, please refer to your Use & Care Guide in the Care and Cleaning section.

If my clothes are too wet after the Spin cycle, what can I do?

If your clothes seem wetter than they should be after the Spin cycle, please check the following:

  • The drain hose should be straight and unclogged. It should be securely inserted into the standpipe, but not so far in that it reaches the trap area of the standpipe plumbing. Inserting the drain hose too far can cause water from the drain to slowly siphon back into the washer.
  • The load might be too small. If so, add a few similar items.
  • The load might be too big. The drum of our washer should not be tightly packed with clothes (door should close easily).
  • If this doesn’t happen often, select the Rinse and Spin cycle and deselect Extra Rinse as an option. This will allow the washer to perform only the Spin cycle on the load.

If you are unable to resolve an issue or need more information, please contact us.

What should I do if my washer is not spinning?

If your load is out of balance, it may prevent the washer from spinning. Rearrange the items in your load to allow proper spinning, possibly adding one or two similar items to help balance the load.

If the load is comprised of items that cannot be distributed around the drum, such as a single pillow or stuffed animal, the washer will not spin.  Additional items will need to be added to the unit to better balance the weight of the load.

If you are unable to resolve an issue or need more information, please contact us

What should I do if my washer is draining slowly?

If your washer is draining water slowly, you can check the following:

  • The drain hose. If it’s kinked, straighten it to improve water flow to the drain.
  • The drain. Be sure it’s clear and not clogged.
  • The height of the standpipe (drain hose). It cannot be more than 96 inches high.
  • The drain hose seal. If the drain hose has been taped (or sealed) into the standpipe, the seal should not be completely tight, because the standpipe needs air for proper draining. If necessary, remove some of the tape on the seal to make an air path.
  • The drain hose fit. If it fits too tightly in the standpipe, create an air gap between the drain hose and the standpipe so that it can drain properly. The standpipe needs to be at least one-and-one-quarter inches in diameter.
  • The amount of detergent. Using too much detergent can also inhibit draining.
  • The pump. It’s possible that your pump, drain hose or coin trap filter may be clogged. If you suspect this is the case, you should contact an authorized service provider.
Helpful?

What should I do if my washer is leaking water?

If water is leaking from your washer, check the list below:

  • Is the drain clogged? If so, it will need to be cleaned, you may need to contact a plumber.
  • Is the drain hose restricted or out of the standpipe? If it is out of the standpipe, you will need to secure it. You can do this by bending the end to form a hook, placing the hooked end into the standpipe, and tying the hose to the standpipe or a faucet with a cable tie (one was supplied with the washer), strong filament tape or duct tape.
  • Are the fill hose connections loose or cross-threaded at the faucet or washer? Check by realigning the threads, make sure that the rubber sealing washers are in good shape and seated properly, and tighten the hose connections. If they are loose, you might need to reinstall or replace the rubber sealing washers.
  • Are you using a non-HE detergent or too much detergent or do you have soft water? Using a non-HE detergent, or using too much detergent in soft water, can cause suds to overflow the washer. This may seem like a leak if the suds flow or drip onto the floor. To avoid this, use an HE detergent, and reduce the amount of detergent you use if your water is soft.

If you are unable to resolve an issue or need more information, please contact us.

How do I open the door if the unit is in the middle of a cycle?

For your safety, your washer’s door will be locked during the entire Wash cycle. However, if you need to add a forgotten item to the washer anytime during the wash portion of the cycle, press Pause. The door will then unlock as long as the water level is safely below the door opening. When the door unlocks, open the door, add the item, close the door and press Start to resume the cycle. To stop the cycle, press Cancel.

NOTE: If the cycle is interrupted during the Spin cycle, the door will not release until the tub has stopped spinning. DO NOT force the door open.

If the water level is at or above the bottom of the door, to prevent water spilling on your floor, the door will remain locked even if the cycle is paused or cancelled. To drain the unit, cancel the cycle and select the Rinse and Spin cycle, then select No Spin as the spin speed and deselect the Extra Rinse option. This will prompt the washer to simply drain the water from the drum, and then the cycle will end. Once the cycle is completed (in a couple of minutes), the door will unlock.

My washer produces a lot of suds. How can I reduce them?

A number of things can increase the amount of suds produced when you wash a load of laundry, including:

  • Detergent amount. For the best results, follow directions on the detergent bottle for the recommended amount of detergent, with adjustments for type and amount of soil, load size, and water hardness and temperature. The following scenarios may require the use of less detergent: small loads, less-soiled loads, hot water and soft water. Likewise, the following scenarios may result in the need for slightly more detergent: large loads, heavier-soiled loads, hard water or cold water.
  • Soft water. You need less detergent when the water supply is naturally soft or mechanically softened.
  • Detergent type. Your detergent should be compatible with your washer type. High-efficiency (HE) detergents are recommended for front load washers. They are formulated to reduce suds and ensure proper cleaning.
  • Pretreated items. Because pretreated products remain on items that go in the wash, they can add to the amount of suds that your detergent normally produces. When using these products, simply use less than the recommended amount of detergent.
  • Other laundry products. Products such as oxygen bleach can produce extra suds. Simply reduce the amount of detergent you use when you are also using products such as oxygen bleach.

You can remove excess suds by stopping the washer and performing one of the following procedures:

  • Rewash the load in cold water without detergent and repeat, if necessary, until the final rinse water is clear.
  • Select the Rinse and Spin cycle, which will cause the unit to run a short cycle that will rinse the extra detergent from the load. If the suds are excessive, this may need to be done multiple times before the clothes are fully rinsed of the excessive detergent.

What causes detergent residue on fabric/clothing?

Detergent residue can be caused by any of the below:

  • Powder detergent that does not dissolve.
  • Using too much detergent.
  • Incomplete rinsing caused by an overloaded drum.
  • Misuse of liquid fabric softener.
  • Hard water.
  • Low water pressure.
  • Placing detergent, fabric softener or bleach in the wrong compartment of the dispenser.

To remove detergent residue, rewash the load in cold water without detergent and repeat, if necessary, until the final rinse water is clear. Or you may select the Rinse and Spin cycle, which will cause the unit to run a short cycle that will rinse the extra detergent from the load. If the suds are excessive, this may need to be done multiple times before the clothes are fully rinsed of the excessive detergent.

Why does moisture collect on the inside of my refrigerator or freezer?

It is normal for the rate of frost buildup or “sweating” inside your refrigerator or freezer to increase when the weather is hot or humid. Other reasons you might see moisture inside your refrigerator or freezer can include:

• You’ve recently placed large amounts of warm or hot food in it. Warmer items affect the freezer temperature; simply wait until it has had a chance to return to your selected setting.
• The door has been opened frequently. If warm air has been allowed in to the freezer, leave the door closed for awhile – the temperature will return to its desired setting.
• It has recently been disconnected for a period of time. After being reconnected, the freezer can take up to 24 hours to completely cool down again.

Why does my refrigerator seem to run too much, or for too long?

Your refrigerator might seem to run more than normal if:

• The room or outdoor temperature is hot. It's normal for the refrigerator to work harder, and run longer, under these conditions.
• You use the ice maker, which can cause the unit to run more.
• The door has been opened frequently. If warm air has been allowed in to the refrigerator, simply leave the door closed for awhile-the temperature will return to its desired setting.
• Your refrigerator doors need to be completely closed.
• Your refrigerator has recently been disconnected for a period of time. After it starts up again, it will work harder to cool down completely (which can take up to 12 hours).
To stabilize, set your freezer control to a warmer setting, until your refrigerator is at a comfortable setting, and allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize.

What are the differences between refrigerator styles?

French door models feature a two-door refrigerator on top and freezer drawer on the bottom. The lower freezer is a pull-out basket. Many French door models also offer filtered ice and water dispensers in the door.

Side-by-side models feature two doors; the freezer is on the left and the refrigerator is on the right. The simple, yet stylish design makes it easy to organize and find items. Often they have ice and water dispensers in the door, and they work well when you don’t have a lot of space for the door to swing open.

Top freezer models with the freezer on top are good for smaller kitchens, offering roomy storage on wide shelves and a lower cost of operation. The direction the door opens can often be reversed to meet your specific needs.

Is it normal to hear a popping or cracking sound when the freezer motor comes on?

Yes, this is normal. These sounds can be caused by the freezer’s metal parts as they expand and contract with temperature changes, or by the circulation of the refrigerant that’s used to cool the freezer. The sounds will fade or disappear entirely as your freezer continues to run.

If my refrigerator’s compressor isn’t running, what should I do?

If the compressor isn’t running, it might simply be because your refrigerator is in defrost mode. This is normal and can last up to 30 minutes.

You can also check the following:
• Be sure that your cooling system is turned on.
• Be sure your refrigerator’s power cord is securely plugged into the outlet. Also, it is recommended that you not plug your refrigerator into a GFCI outlet (an outlet that has a “TEST” and “RESET” button).
• Consider replacing your circuit or fuse with a 15-amp time-delay fuse. A time-delay fuse accepts a momentary overload (as when the compressor cycle is on) for a short period of time without blowing.
• You may want to reset your circuit breaker.

• Check that the ice maker is turned on. After ice is made, your dispenser should work.
• Turn your freezer control to a colder setting, so that ice will be made more quickly. After ice is made, your dispenser should work.
• If your refrigerator is equipped with a Fast Ice™ setting or a Fast Freeze™ button, you can turn on either of these features to help make ice more quickly.
• Open the water line valve. Allow enough time for ice to be made; when it has been made, the dispenser should work.
• Be sure that your freezer door is closed.
Note: If the ice dispenser’s paddle has been held in for four to five minutes, the motor will become overloaded. It will reset in approximately three minutes, after which you can get ice from the dispenser.

What is induction and how does it work?

With faster, more responsive heating, more energy-efficient cooking and easier cleaning, induction takes cooking to a whole new level. It combines the benefits of gas and electric cooktops – merging with the power of gas with the easy cleanup of electric.

Using electromagnetic energy, heat is transferred directly to the cookware, so the cooktop remains cooler. And induction allows for more precise control when cooking – you can instantly adjust the heat to a delicate simmer or bring it to a quick boil.

What should I do if my induction cooktop doesn’t seem to be heating?

If your induction cooktop doesn’t seem to be heating, it might be because:

What can I do to ensure the best results when cooking with my induction cooktop?

There are many factors that can affect cooking, but you can help ensure best results by following these recommendations:

• Use heavier, high-quality cookware that is suitable for induction cooktops.
The thicker outer ring each cooking zone is helpful to determine the maximum pan size.
• Adjust the recipe's suggested temperature or cooking time. Your induction cooktop provides exceptional temperature control that allows you to adjust heat with greater accuracy than gas or electric cooktops, especially at lower settings. Perfect for melting chocolate and cooking delicate foods and sauces.

What does Energy Star qualified mean and how can I tell if it applies to my unit?

Products that are Energy Star qualified are equivalent to or better than standard products, with one important difference: they use less energy. To earn the Energy Star rating, products must meet strict energy efficient criteria set by the U.S.

Additionally, manufacturers are required to display their products test results on the Energy Star label. The label will tell you about the product’s efficiency level, including approximately how much energy the appliance uses, its average annual operating cost and how its energy use compares with that of similar products.

How is a Ventless (Condensation) Dryer different than other Electrolux Dryers and what do I need to know to optimize the performance?

A Ventless or Condensation Dryer is an eco-friendly unit that does not recycle heat from your home. It’s smaller than a traditional dryer and easy to install.

The condensation process requires access to cool air. Therefore, the laundry room or closet door where the unit is located should be kept open to allow for proper air circulation.

This type of dryer may have extended drying times compared to a traditional front load dryer.

The water container should be emptied after every load – unless the draining kit has been installed. The condenser also requires periodic cleaning. Please refer to your Owner’s Manual for detailed care and cleaning instructions.

Helpful?

How often do I need to clean my dryer or the lint screen / filter to optimize my drying performance?

It’s important to clean the lint screen / filter before or after drying each load of laundry. Excessive lint buildup can block the flow of air and hinder the drying performance.

It’s also a good idea to regularly inspect and clean the entire outdoor exhaust and venting. You can also wash the lint screen in warm, soapy water to remove any residue, then dry it thoroughly before replacing.

What should I do if my dryer does not start?

If your dryer does not start, it might be due to one of the following reasons:

  • Some models have a Power button that must be pressed before you select the dry cycle and options.
  • Once you have selected the dry cycle and options, don’t forget to press Start.
  • Some models have touch screens (similar to Smart Phones) which means you must use your fingertip to make selections on the control panel.
  • Make sure you have not unintentionally activated the Delay Start option.
  • The dryer door is open. The door must be completely closed for the dryer to run.
  • The power cord may not be plugged in or the connection may be loose. Check to be sure the plug fits tightly into the wall outlet. NOTE:  Do not use an extension cord.
  • A fuse is blown in your home or a circuit breaker is tripped. If this is the case, reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse (but do not increase the fuse capacity).  If you have an overloaded circuit, contact a qualified electrician to correct it.

Can I do anything to help decrease wrinkles in my clothes?

If you have a Perfect Steam™ Dryer, its advanced technology will remove wrinkles and freshen clothes. You can also select the "Add Steam” option with many cycles.  Depending on your model, you may want to use the “Wrinkle Release” or “Extended Tumble” options.

In general, for best results when drying your clothes, follow these simple steps:

  • Do not overload your dryer. Clothes need room to tumble freely.
  • Select the appropriate cycle setting and temperature based on your fabric care labels.
  • Select More Dry for loads that need more time, and Less Dry if you want the load to be damp dry for ironing.
  • Remove items from the dryer when the cycle is done. As soon as the cycle is complete, hang or fold your items. To remove wrinkles from clean, dry clothes, select “Instant Refresh” cycle (available on some models) or tumble them on low heat for 10 or 15 minutes.
  • When using fabric softener / dryer sheets, please refer to your Owner’s Manual (use not recommended with steam options).

Is it normal for my dryer to make sounds or noises?

Belt buckles or other metal fasteners on items being dried may cause rattling or clanking sounds. You can fasten these items or turn garments inside out to reduce the sounds.

Rattling or clanking sounds may also be caused by foreign objects (such as coins) in the drum. If you think this is the issue, stop the dryer and check for any objects in the drum.  If none are present and the sounds continue, we recommend running an empty load to see if the noise continues. This will allow you to determine if the noise is coming from the unit or an article that was being dried.  If the noise is still present during the empty load, please contact us.

The normal operating sounds of a dryer are listed in your Owner’s Manual and include:

  • Water Value (steam models only)
  • Suspension rollers
  • Air Flow System
  • Gas Value (gas models only)
  • Gas Burner (gas models only)

If you are unable to resolve an issue or need more information, please contact us.

My dryer seems to take a long time to dry a load of clothes. Can I do anything to adjust this?

If your dryer seems to be taking too long to dry a load, try the following:

If your dryer seems to be taking too long to dry a load, try the following:

  • Clean the Lint screen / Filter after every use. You can also wash the lint screen in warm, soapy water to remove any residue, then dry it thoroughly before replacing.
  • Check the cycle or temperature setting. Some cycles or options require more time to dry such as Low Heat, More Dry or Eco.
  • Do not dry a load that’s too big or too small.  If your dryer is over-loaded, it will take longer to dry your clothes. Items need room to tumble freely in order to dry well, and you also need enough items in the drum for proper tumbling.
  • Sort the items you are drying. Dry items of similar fabric and weight in the same load.
  • Take humidity into account. Drying times will be longer in areas where humidity is high.
  • Check the dryer’s moisture sensor bars.  To locate the moisture sensor bars, please refer to your Owner’s Manual. Fabric softener sheets can leave a residue on the moisture sensor bars in the dryer, which can inhibit their ability to accurately sense wet clothes. Remove the residue by wiping the moisture sensor bars with rubbing alcohol.
  • Check for adequate ventilation. If your dryer is installed in a closet or under a counter, it might not be getting the ventilation needed for proper drying.
  • Check and clean the exhaust duct. Be sure the exhaust duct is not clogged or blocked. If the problem continues consider having it cleaned by an authorized service provider. Refer to the installation instructions for appropriate placement and size of the exhaust duct.
  • Be sure you’re connected to a 240-volt circuit.  Refer to the Installation instructions.

My dryer is running but does not seem to be heating. What should I do?

There are two house circuits or fuses in an electric dryer’s circuit. If one of them is tripped or blown, the drum may still turn but the heater will not operate. If this is the case, you’ll need to reset the circuit breaker or replace the house fuse.

You can also check the following:

  • Cycle or temperature setting. Please note that some cycles will tumble with low heat.
  • Outlet wiring. Have a qualified electrician or installer verify that the voltage supplied is correct (240V).
  • Gas supply value (for gas models only). Be sure the gas supply valve to the dryer is open.
  • Gas supply tank (for gas models only). If you have a gas dryer and your LP gas tank is empty, refill or replace the tank.  If there has been an interruption in the natural gas supply, call your natural gas company.
  • Air supply around a gas dryer. The dryer needs space around it for proper ventilation to support the gas burner. Do not stack or place laundry or rugs against the front or back of the dryer.

What is Perfect Convect3®, and how does convection cooking work?

Electrolux ovens offer Perfect Convect3®, which features a third convection element for consistently even results, up to 30% faster cooking times, and even more baking options.

The dirt's not going into the bag or dust cup. How do I fix this?

If your vacuum has a detachable hose, make sure it’s firmly connected. Make sure the hose is emptying the dirt into the bag or the dust cup. On bagged models, the hose needs to protrude into the bag. If these connections look right, then check the hose for a clog or obstruction.

How do I find the model number on my Electrolux vacuum?

You’ll find the model number on a metallic silver-colored rating plate, which is usually located on the back or bottom of your vacuum.

How often should I change my vacuum's bag or dust cup?

Generally, you should change your vacuum bag once a month and empty your dust cup when it is two-thirds full. We recommend more frequent bag changes if your home is large, if you have children and/or pets or if there is heavy foot traffic in your home. You should also change the bag more than once a month if you’re cleaning fine dust and debris, since both reduce the filtration through the bag. Change the bag immediately if the dirt is above the line printed on the bag. A bag change indicator is activated on some Electrolux models when the bag is full.

When does the filter need to be replaced?

It varies, depending on your model's filtration type. Micron Filtration is not a separate filter, but is part of the bag itself. So, if you change bags monthly and use Electrolux brand bags, your filtration should remain powerful. True HEPA filters should be replaced every six months to maintain peak filtration. The small fabric filters that cover the back of the bagless cassette and the entrance into the casing beneath the cassette can be rinsed out, dried thoroughly and put back into place. They should be replaced after a year. Washable HEPA filters should be cleaned out approximately every eight weeks. Always make sure that washable filters are completely dry before you put them back in the vacuum.
