WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN MY STAINLESS STEEL RANGE?

For best results when cleaning your stainless steel range:
• Clean it using warm, soapy water and a clean sponge or cloth. Do not use an abrasive cloth or pad.
• Always rinse your range thoroughly with clean water. If the soap or other cleanser isn’t rinsed off, it might produce a permanent bluish stain once the range is heated.
• After you’ve rinsed it, dry the range with a soft, clean cloth.

Tip: If you choose to use a kitchen cleanser rather than soapy water, use only cleansers that are specially made for cleaning stainless steel – avoid harsh scrubbing cleansers.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY RANGE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE LEVEL?

If your range does not appear to be level, try the following:
• Adjust the range’s leveling legs. It’s possible that your oven was not level when it was installed. To check this, simply place a rack in the center of the oven, then place a level on the rack and adjust the leveling legs.
• Check your kitchen cabinet alignment. The position of your cabinets may make your oven appliance appear to not be level. Be sure your cabinets are square, and that they leave sufficient room for appliance clearance.
• Be sure your kitchen floor is level. Check your floor to be sure it’s level, strong, and stable enough to adequately support the appliance. If the floor is sagging or sloping, you might want to contact a carpenter to correct it.

HOW CAN I PREVENT OR REMOVE BROWN STREAKS OR MARKS ON MY ELECTRIC OR INDUCTION COOKTOP SURFACE?

Brown streaks, spots, or other marks are most likely caused by food boiling over and then being cooked onto your oven’s surface. You can remove them by carefully using a razor blade to scrape them off.

Tip: Prior to using your cooktop for the first time, apply the recommended cooktop cleanser to the surface and buff using a nonabrasive cloth or pad. This will make future cleanup of food easier, and the special cooktop cleansing cream leaves a protective finish that helps prevent scratches.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY INDUCTION COOKTOP DOESN’T SEEM TO BE HEATING?

If your cooktop doesn’t seem to be heating, it might be because:
• You need to check the placement of your cookware. If you have an induction cooktop, be sure that the bottom of your pot or pan is large enough for the cooking zone you’re using, and that it is centered on it.
• Your cookware isn’t compatible with an induction cooktop. Our induction cooktop surfaces are compatible with most cookware you might use – if a magnet sticks to the bottom of your pot or pan, it will work on an induction cooktop.
• No cookware was placed on your induction cooktop. If you’re using an induction cooktop, it will not turn on unless a pot or pan has been placed on it.
• The cooktop’s control needs to be adjusted. Make sure the right control is turned on for the element you’re using, and that the setting isn’t too low. (Try turning it to a slightly higher setting until the element turns on.)
• The power cord isn’t plugged in.
• The wiring is not complete. Contact your local dealer, installing agent, or authorized service provider, or contact Electrolux at 1-877-4 ELECTROLUX

With a built-in range (also called a slide-in range), the cooktop and oven controls are at the front of the appliance.
• A freestanding range is used in traditional installations (against the kitchen wall), and typically has controls at the back of the cooktop.

WHAT IS PERFECT CONVECT3®, AND HOW DOES CONVECTION COOKING WORK?

Electrolux ranges offer Perfect Convect3®, which features a third convection element for consistently even results, up to 30% faster cooking times, and even more baking options.

Convection cooking is cooking with the added advantage of airflow circulation, which allows for a more even distribution of heat. By using the forced flow of hot air, convection cooking produces the following benefits:
• Cooking time is approximately 25 – 30% faster than in conventional ovens, saving energy.
• The more even distribution of heat results in food that is more evenly baked.
• Generally, less heat is required than with a conventional oven – a convection oven usually cooks at 25°F below a conventional oven's required temperature. So simply program your oven according to your recipe’s temperature requirements and press “Convection Conversion,” and the oven will automatically convert the temperature.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF ONLY PART OF MY GAS BURNER SHOWS A FLAME?

If your burner is only partially lit, it could be because it is clogged. Be sure to turn the burner off, then use a small-gauge wire or needle to clean its openings.

A partial flame might also be caused by moisture remaining in the burner after it has been cleaned. If you think this might be the case, lightly fan the flame and allow the burner to operate until the flame is full.

WHAT TYPE OF POTS AND PANS SHOULD I USE WITH MY RANGE WITH INDUCTION COOKTOP?

Electrolux induction hybrid cooktops include a combination of electric elements that are compatible with all cookware, and induction elements that are compatible with most cookware. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the pot or pan, it will work on your Electrolux cooktop.

Cookware made of aluminum, copper, or glass (including Pyrex) is not compatible with an induction cooktop. In addition, some types of stainless steel may not work on an induction surface, or may heat very slowly.

Tip: Do not let your pots or pans boil dry. Doing so may cause permanent damage to a ceramic cooktop (breakage, fusion, or marring that is not covered by your warranty).

HOW CAN I PREVENT SCRATCHES ON MY ELECTRIC OR INDUCTION COOKTOP?

Prior to using your cooktop for the first time, apply recommended cooktop cleanser to the surface and buff using a nonabrasive cloth or pad. The special cooktop cleansing cream leaves a protective finish that helps prevent scratches and abrasions.

To further prevent scratches on your cooktop surface:

• Be sure that the cooktop and any pots, pans, or utensils you use are clean. If coarse particles (such as salt) come between your cooktop and utensils, scratches can result.
• Use pots and pans that have a smooth, flat bottom.
• Use cleaning materials that are recommended for ceramic/glass cooktops.

Any small scratches that occur will not affect your cooktop’s performance, and will become less visible over time.

WHY DOES MY INDUCTION COOKTOP TURN OFF WHILE I’M COOKING?

For your safety, there are a few conditions that will cause your cooktop to automatically turn off, including:
• The heat sensor has detected a high temperature inside the oven. We recommend that you check to be sure the appliance’s vent holes are not blocked.
• Fluids have spilled onto the cooktop, or an object is lying on its control area. Simply clean any spills or remove any objects, then turn your cooktop back on.
• Your cooktop has been in use continuously for over 12 hours. Sensing this extended use will cause the cooktop to turn off.

WHAT IS INDUCTION AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

With faster, more responsive heating, more energy-efficient cooking and easier cleaning, induction takes cooking to a whole new level. It combines the benefits of gas and electric cooktops – merging the power of gas with the easy cleanup of electric.

Using electromagnetic energy, heat is transferred directly to the cookware, so the cooktop remains cooler. And induction allows for more precise control when cooking – you can instantly adjust the heat to a delicate simmer or bring it to a quick boil.

WHAT CAN I DO TO ENSURE THE BEST RESULTS WHEN COOKING WITH MY RANGE WITH INDUCTION COOKTOP?

There are many factors that can affect cooking, but you can help ensure best results by following these recommendations:
• Use heavier, high-quality cookware that is compatible with induction. High-quality cookware that is heavier and has a flat bottom will help your food cook more evenly.
• Use the correct size cookware. The two induction cooking zones available on the cooktop require a specific pan size to be used at each location. The inner ring of each cooking zone is your guide to the correct minimum pan size. The pan bottom must fully cover the inner ring for proper cooking to occur. The thicker outer ring around each cooking zone is helpful to determine the maximum pan size.
• Adjust the recipe's suggested temperature or cooking time. Your induction cooktop provides exceptional temperature control that allows you to adjust heat with greater accuracy than gas or electric cooktops, especially at lower settings. It’s perfect for melting chocolate and cooking delicate foods and sauces.

WILL A DRAFT BLOWING THROUGH MY KITCHEN AFFECT MY VENTILATION HOOD’S PERFORMANCE?

For the best ventilation of your kitchen, the only air currents should be those that are created by the ventilation hood.

While you’re cooking, try to reduce drafts in your kitchen as much as you can. A draft that blows across your range or cooktop can cause the heat, steam, moisture, grease, and aromas to escape from your ventilation hood.

* Was this helpful?

WHEN SHOULD I TURN ON THE VENTILATION HOOD?

To ensure the most effective performance, turn on your ventilation hood a few minutes before cooking. This will establish the upward air currents that will carry away the heat, smoke, moisture, grease, or cooking aromas that might be produced. Keep your ventilation hood turned on for about five minutes after you have finished cooking.

HOW DO I CLEAN AND CARE FOR MY DISHWASHER?

To keep your dishwasher as clean as possible, follow these steps:

Outside: Occasionally wipe the outside surfaces of your dishwasher with a mild, nonabrasive detergent and water, then rinse and dry.

Stainless steel door: Clean the stainless steel door and handle with hot, soapy water and a dishcloth, then rinse with clean water and a cloth. Do not use harsh scrubbing cleaners – use only kitchen cleaners made especially for cleaning stainless steel.

Stainless steel interior: Remove spots on the door and inside the dishwasher with a damp, nonabrasive cloth.

Stainless steel filters: Your dishwasher is equipped with a state-of-the-art wash system. Periodically, you may need to clean the glass trap filter and the large food particle trap in order to maximize your dishwasher’s performance. The glass trap filter is located in the center of the large food particle trap, and is designed to collect pieces of broken glass, straws, bones, and pits. To remove items in the glass trap filter, grasp the handle, lift it out, empty it, and replace it.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF IT APPEARS THAT MY DISHWASHER IS LEAKING?

In the unlikely event a leak should occur, the Leak Detection System should detect it and immediately stop and drain the dishwasher while sounding an audible and visible alert.

To help prevent leaks, you can:
• Be sure to wipe up any spilled rinse aid, because it can cause excess foam which might overflow.
• Use only fresh detergent designed for automatic dishwashers, and be sure to carefully measure and use the correct amount.
• Make sure your dishwasher is level on the floor.

WHY DO I SEE DETERGENT LEFT IN THE DISHWASHER DISPENSER AFTER A CYCLE?

If you see detergent remaining in the dispenser after a cycle is finished, try the following:
• Be sure to use fresh detergent, as older detergent might not dissolve well.
• Check to ensure that the spray arm is not blocked, so that water from it can reach the dispenser.
• Check to see if the cycle has completed.
• When loading the dishwasher, make sure the detergent dispenser can open freely.
• Before you close the door, check that the upper rack is firmly attached to with the nozzle on the back of the dishwasher.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY DISHES AREN’T AS CLEAN AS I WOULD LIKE AFTER I RUN MY DISHWASHER?

If you see food particles on your dishes after they have been run through the dishwasher’s cycle, try the following:
• Choose a cycle with a longer wash time, especially if dishes are extra soiled.
• Be sure that the dishwasher racks are properly loaded. Avoid overcrowding.
• Check with your local utility company to ensure that the water pressure in your home is between 20 and 120 psi (pounds per square inch).
• Check to determine whether you have hard water. If so, you may need a water softener. To determine your water hardness, contact your water supplier or county extension office.
• Use fresh detergent, because old detergent is not always effective.
• Check to see that the dishwasher’s spray arms are not blocked.
• Be sure that the water coming into your dishwasher is hot water. The water should be at least 120°F (49°C).

SOMETIMES MY DISHWASHER DOESN’T SEEM TO DRAIN ALL THE WATER OUT OF THE BOTTOM. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If it seems like your dishwasher should drain faster, try the following:
• If your dishwasher is connected to a garbage disposal, run the disposal to clear the drain system.
• If you have a new garbage disposal, or if it’s the first time you’ve used your dishwasher, the “knock-out” plug might need to be removed from the disposal. (This step can occasionally be overlooked during installation.)
• Check the drain hose to be sure it is free of kinks.
• Make sure the wash cycle is complete, and not paused.

MY DISHWASHER CYCLE TAKES LONGER THAN I EXPECTED. IS THAT NORMAL?

Electrolux dishwashers have a variety of cycles for you to choose from, depending on your cleaning needs and preferred timing. The different options can impact the time it takes for a wash cycle to complete. Some options that impact the running time of a cycle include:

• The delay start option, which will postpone the start of the cycle until the time you have selected. It is designed to allow you to control when your dishwasher runs – choose to have it run it when it’s most convenient for you, or to coincide with lower energy rates.
• The sanitize option, which takes longer to wash and dry. This option uses higher heat for maximum cleaning, and offers maximum drying capabilities.
It can also be normal for the wash cycle to be momentarily delayed if water needs to be heated to the appropriate temperature.

WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN AND CARE FOR MY WASHER?

For optimal care of your washer, we recommend that you follow the guidelines below:
• Promptly remove finished loads
• Clean the top and sides of the washer with a damp cloth or mild detergent and water. Be sure to avoid harsh, gritty, or abrasive cleansers.
• Leave the door and dispenser drawer open when your washer is not in use.
• Remove any interior stains with a nonabrasive household cleanser or diluted chlorine bleach (½ cup bleach to 1 quart water), then rinse well.
• When washing heavily soiled items, shake or brush off excess dirt and sand before washing. If any remains in the drum after washing, wipe it with a nonabrasive household cleanser, then rinse.
• Turn water faucets off when they’re not in use to prevent pressure build up in the washer’s hoses.

WHAT IS THE SYSTEM CLEAN CYCLE?

The System Clean cycle refreshes and cleans the washer drum. The washer will automatically prompt you to run the System Clean cycle every 50 cycles. You may press the button under EXIT to manually perform the cycle at another time.

To perform the System Clean cycle, press select when prompted. The next screen will instruct you to remove all items from the wash drum, fill the bleach dispenser and press start. This maintenance cycle uses hot water and two rinses to remove residue that may cause odor.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF PILLING ON GARMENTS?

Abrasion will cause pilling on synthetic fabrics and loosely woven or knitted items.
To minimize pilling:
• Sort items made of synthetic fibers from those made of natural fibers and wash them separately.
• Turn garments inside out for washing.
• Shorten the wash time.

IF MY CLOTHES ARE TOO WET AFTER THE SPIN CYCLE, WHAT CAN I DO?

Clothes might seem too wet because they were rinsed in cold water. While a cold-water rinse saves energy and reduces wrinkling, it tends to leave clothes feeling wetter.

If your clothes seem wetter than they should be after the spin cycle, check the following:
• The drain hose should be straight and unclogged.
• The load might be too small. If so, add a few similar items.
• The load might be too big. The drum of your washer should not be tightly packed with clothes (the door should close easily).
• Select a cycle with a faster spin speed (if your washer has this feature).
• It’s possible that a pump may be clogged. If so, you will need to call your authorized service provider

IS IT NORMAL FOR MY WASHER TO MAKE THUMPING, RATTLING, OR CLANKING SOUNDS?

It’s normal for a heavy wash load to sometimes produce a thumping sound at the beginning of the spin cycle.

Rattling or clanking sounds may be caused by belt buckles or other metal fasteners on items in the load. You can fasten these items and turn garments inside out to reduce the sounds. Rattling or clanking might also be caused by foreign objects (such as coins or safety pins) in the drum. Stop the washer and check for any objects in the drum. If none are present and the sound continues, an object may be in the pump and you should call for authorized service.

HOW CAN I GET MY WASHER TO DRAIN MORE QUICKLY?

If you washer is draining water slowly, check the following:
• The drain hose. If it’s kinked, straighten it to improve water flow to the drain.
• The drain. Be sure it’s clear and not clogged. (It needs to be able to eliminate 17 gallons of water per minute.)
• The height of the standpipe. It cannot be more than 96 inches high.
• The drain hose seal. If the drain hose has been taped (or sealed) into the standpipe, the seal should not be completely tight because the standpipe requires air for proper draining. If necessary, remove some of the tape on the seal to make an air path.
• The drain hose fit. If it fits too tightly in the standpipe, create an air gap between the drain hose and the standpipe for proper draining. The standpipe needs to be at least 1¼ inches in diameter.
• The amount of detergent. Using too much detergent can also inhibit draining.
• The pump. It’s possible that your pump may be clogged. If you suspect this is the case, please call your authorized servicer.

WHAT WATER TEMPERATURE SHOULD I SELECT WHEN WASHING A LOAD OF LAUNDRY?

When choosing your preferred water temperature, consider these basic points:
• Hot water cleans most effectively, but it shouldn’t be used for all items.
• Warm water can be used for most normally soiled loads.
• Cold water is recommended for lightly soiled or brightly colored items.

To compensate for cooler wash water, it may be necessary to soak or prewash heavily soiled items, increase wash time, use a liquid detergent, or use additional laundry products to boost the detergent's cleaning power. For detergent to be activated, and for powdered detergent to dissolve, the wash water temperature must be at least 65°F.

Tip: If you prefer cold water washing, it’s recommended that you occasionally run a hot or warm water wash, because repeated use of cold water and liquid detergents may produce an odor in the washer over time

HOW CAN I INCREASE THE TEMPERATURE OF MY WASHER’S HOT OR WARM WATER?

To increase the water temperature for your washer, check the following:
• Your water heater setting. Your water heater may be set too low. Measure the hot water temperature at the washer or a nearby faucet with a thermometer. It should reach at least 120°F. If it doesn’t, adjust your water heater’s temperature setting.
• Hot water usage elsewhere in the home. Your hot water heater may not be able to supply enough hot water for multiple, simultaneous uses. Based on the capacity of your water heater, you may need to avoid using hot water elsewhere before or during the use of your washer.•Distance between your water heater and washer. It’s possible that water may cool as it moves through the pipes from your water heater to the washer. Try opening the hot water faucet at a nearby sink to drain cool water from the pipes before starting the washer.
• Are you using an ENERGY STAR® rated appliance? Energy-saving washers have controls that supply cooler warm water as a means to save energy and money. These water temperatures may seem cooler than what you were used to in older, high-energy use machines; however, the washer is performing properly.

WHAT TYPE OF DETERGENT SHOULD I USE WITH MY ELECTROLUX FRONT LOAD WASHER?

Electrolux recommends using a high-efficiency (HE) detergent for front load washers. HE detergents are formulated to reduce suds and ensure proper cleaning.

Also, Electrolux recommends using dryer sheets instead of using liquid fabric softener.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY WASHER DOES NOT START?

If your washer does not start, it might be due to one of the following reasons:
• The wash cycle is in a pause stage. This is normal – a pause occurs between the wash and spin cycles, with a longer pause occurring during the soak cycle. With front load washers, normal pauses also occur as part of the reverse tumbling action.
• The cycle selector knob is not quite at the start position. To ensure it’s correctly positioned, turn the knob or dial slightly past your desired start position, then pull it out to start the washer.
• The power cord may not be plugged in or the connection may be loose. Check to be sure that your washer’s plug fits tightly into the wall outlet. Note: Do not use an extension cord. Depending on the quality of the extension cord and the length, the power to the washer may be greatly reduced and not allow your washer to perform properly.
• The door of the washer is open. For your safety, the door of your washer must be completely closed for the washer to fill, tumble or agitate, and spin.
• The motor is overheated. Your washer’s motor will stop if it becomes overheated, then automatically restart after a cool-down period of up to 30 minutes (if the timer has not been manually turned off).
• A fuse is blown in your home, or a circuit breaker tripped. If this is the case, reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse (but do not increase the fuse capacity). If you have an overloaded circuit, contact a qualified electrician to correct it.

CAN I DO ANYTHING TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF LINT?

Lint will occur naturally through abrasion, but you can reduce it by following these steps:
• Use the recommended amount of detergent – it traps lint during the wash cycle and holds it in suspension until it is flushed out in the rinse cycle.
• Be sure that your inlet and drain hoses are not kinked or clogged. (Adequate water pressure and proper draining help remove lint from the wash load.)
• Sort lint-producing items from lint-attracting items.
• Empty all pockets of paper and other objects.

IF THE WASH LOAD IS ALREADY IN CYCLE, HOW DO I OPEN THE DOOR?

For your safety, your washer’s door will be locked during the entire wash cycle and DOOR LOCKED will be displayed. To add a forgotten item to the washer any time during the wash portion of the cycle, press pause. When the door unlocks, open the door, add the item, close the door and press start to resume the cycle. To stop the cycle, press cancel.

Note: If the cycle is interrupted during the spin, the door will not release until the tub has stopped spinning. DO NOT force the door open.

MY WASHER PRODUCES A LOT OF SUDS. HOW CAN I REDUCE OR REMOVE THEM?

A number of things can increase the amount of suds produced when you wash a load of laundry, including:
• Detergent amount. For optimum results, follow directions for the recommended amount of detergent, with adjustments for type and amount of soil, load size, and water hardness and temperature.
• Soft water. You need less detergent when the water supply is naturally soft or chemically or mechanically softened.
• Detergent type. Your detergent should be compatible with your washer type. High- efficiency (HE) detergents are recommended for front load washers and are formulated to reduce suds and ensure proper cleaning.
• Pretreated items. Because pretreatment products remain on items that go in the wash, they can add to the suds your detergent will normally produce. When using these products, simply use less than the recommended amount of detergent.
• Other laundry products. Products such as oxygen bleach can produce extra suds. Simply reduce the amount of detergent you use when you’re also using products such as an oxygen bleach.
You can remove excess suds by stopping the washer and advancing the cycle selector to Final Spin. Rewash the load in cold water without detergent and repeat, if necessary, until the final rinse water is clear.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY WASHER IS NOT SPINNING?

If your washer isn’t spinning, check to be sure the door is securely closed. For your safety, the washer will not spin if it’s open.

You can also check to see whether the dispenser drawer is open – it should be completely closed.

If your laundry load is out of balance, this might also prevent the washer from spinning. Rearrange the items in your load to allow for proper spinning, possibly adding one or two similar items to help balance a small load.

THE WASH AND RINSE TEMPERATURES AREN’T WHAT I SELECTED. HOW CAN I ADJUST THAT?

If the temperature of your wash and rinse cycles is not what you selected, check the temperature control setting and be sure it is set for your desired water temperature.

You can also check to see if your hot water and cold water hoses are reversed. Run water from each faucet to check if the hoses are connected to the right supply faucets. The hot water hose should be connected to the hot faucet and to the water valve connection marked “H” on the washer. The other hose should be connected to the cold faucet and the water valve connection marked “C” on the washer.

IF WATER IS ENTERING MY WASHER BUT NOT FILLING IT UP, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If water is flowing into your washer, but the drum does not fill, it might be due to one of the below reasons:
• The drain standpipe length. To prevent siphoning off of the incoming water, the standpipe can’t be too short – it must be at least 24 inches high.
• The drain hose fit. If the drain hose fits too tightly in the standpipe, siphoning could result. Be sure that there is an air gap between the drain hose and the standpipe, and that the standpipe is least 1¼ inches in diameter.
• The drain hose pushed too far down the standpipe. The drain hose should be securely inserted into the standpipe, but not so far in that it reaches the trap area of the standpipe plumbing.

WHAT CAUSES DETERGENT RESIDUE ON FABRIC?

Detergent residue is a white substance that resembles lint and can leave streaks on garments. It can be caused by any of the below:
• Powder detergent that does not dissolve.
• Using too little detergent.
• Incomplete rinsing caused by an overloaded drum.
• Misuse of liquid fabric softener.
• Hard water.
• Low water pressure.
To remove detergent residue, rewash the items in the hottest water safe for the fabrics, using the recommended amount of detergent.

CAN I DO ANYTHING TO HELP DECREASE WRINKLES IN MY CLOTHES?

For best results when washing, follow these steps:
• Use a warm-water wash to help relax wrinkles, and a cold-water rinse to reduce wrinkling during spin.
• Remove items promptly when the cycle is complete.
• Avoid packing clothing items too tightly in the washer (the door should close easily).
• Try selecting a cycle with a slower or shorter final spin.

WHAT MIGHT CAUSE MY WASHER TO VIBRATE?

If your washer is vibrating, it may be due to installation issues related to one of the reasons below:
• The washer needs to be resting firmly on the floor. The washer must be level (both front to back and side to side), with each washer leg sitting solidly on the floor. You can adjust the leveling legs by turning legs in or out slightly until the washer sets solidly on the floor, then tightening the lock nuts. For maximum stability, leveling legs should not extend more than ½ inch below the washer bottom.
• The washer needs to be on a sturdy floor. Be sure the washer is installed on a hard floor – not a carpeted one. Electrolux does not recommend installing the washer over carpeting. If necessary, install the washer on a section of ¾ inch plywood that has been secured to the floor joists with lag screws.
• Shipping materials are still in the washer. Remove the five shipping bolts, five yellow spacers, and four plastic "P" clamps from the back of the washer. Make sure the Styrofoam shipping block has been removed from the bottom of the washer.

THE WASHER’S WATER LEVEL DOES NOT COVER MY LAUNDRY LOAD. IS THIS NORMAL?

A front load washer will automatically determine the proper water level for each load – you don’t have to do anything to adjust it. Because of the water efficiency of this type of washer, it’s normal for its water level to never be above the bottom of the door.

IF WATER IS LEAKING FROM MY WASHER, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If water is leaking from your washer, check the list below:
• Is the drain clogged? If you have a clogged drain, it will need to be cleaned – contact a local plumber if necessary.
• Is the drain hose restricted, or out of the standpipe? If the drain hose is out of the standpipe, you’ll need to secure it. You can do this by bending the end to form a hook, placing the hooked end into the standpipe, and tying the hose to the standpipe or a faucet with a cable tie (one was supplied with the washer), strong filament tape, or duct tape.
• Are the fill hose connections loose at the faucet or washer? Check them and tighten the hose connections. If they’re loose, you might need to install or replace the rubber sealing washers.
• Are you using a high-sudsing detergent or is your water soft? Using a high-sudsing detergent, or using too much detergent in soft water, can cause suds to overflow the washer. This may seem like a leak if the suds flow or drip onto the floor. Use a low-sudsing detergent and reduce the amount of detergent you use if your water is soft.

HOW CAN I INCREASE THE FLOW OF WATER TO MY WASHER?

If water is flowing into your washer slowly, or isn’t flowing in at all, you might find a solution by checking the following:
• Hot and cold water faucets. Be sure that your water supply faucets are completely open.
Water fill hoses. Check your water hoses to see if they are kinked. If so, simply straighten the hoses. •Water pressure. Your washer needs sufficient water pressure to fill. You might want to avoid running too much water elsewhere in your home while the washer is filling.
• Water supply. Turn on another faucet in your home to check the water supply in your area. You may need to wait until your water supply and pressure increase before running your washer.
• The washer door. Make sure the door of your washer is completely latched. For your safety, the door must be fully closed for the washer to operate.
• The dispenser drawer. Check to see that the dispenser drawer on your washer is completely closed.
• The filter on the water valve. If the filter screens on your water valve are clogged, turn off your water faucets and remove the hoses from the water valve connections. Clean the filter screens, then reconnect the hoses and turn on the water. Check for any leaks at the connections and tighten them if necessary.

HOW CAN I KEEP MY REFRIGERATOR OR FREEZER SMELLING FRESH?

Freshness in your refrigerator or freezer can be affected by how food is stored. Some foods have a strong odor, so be sure to cover them tightly.

After you’ve checked how your food is stored, try cleaning the interior of your freezer with a sponge, warm water, and baking soda.

Some Electrolux refrigerator models have an air filter to help keep the air in your refrigerator as fresh as possible. If yours does, check the filter and be sure to replace your PureAdvantage™ air filter every six months.

WHY DOES MOISTURE COLLECT ON THE INSIDE OF MY REFRIGERATOR OR FREEZER?

It is normal for the rate of frost buildup or “sweating” inside your refrigerator or freezer to increase when the weather is hot or humid. Other reasons you might see moisture inside your refrigerator or freezer can include:
• The doors aren’t completely closed.
• Warm air has entered after the doors have been opened frequently.
• Uncovered food containers or very warm food has been placed inside the refrigerator or freezer, causing condensation.
If moisture collects in refrigerator drawers, routinely clean out old fruits and vegetables. If your refrigerator has an adjustable humidity control, you can also try moving this to a lower setting.

WHAT CAN I DO IF I’D LIKE MY FREEZER TO BE WARMER/COLDER, BUT MY REFRIGERATOR TEMPERATURE IS JUST RIGHT?

Simply set the freezer control to a warmer/colder setting, allowing 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize. This won’t affect the temperature in your refrigerator.

Please note that it’s normal for your freezer to temporarily seem warmer if:
• You’ve recently placed large amounts of warm or hot food in it. Warmer items affect the freezer temperature; simply wait until it has had a chance to return to your selected setting.
• The door has been opened frequently. If warm air has been allowed in to the freezer, leave the door closed for awhile – the temperature will return to its desired setting.
• It has recently been disconnected for a period of time. After being reconnected, the freezer can take up to 24 hours to completely cool down again.

WHAT CAN I DO IF I’D LIKE MY REFRIGERATOR TO BE WARMER/COLDER, BUT THE FREEZER TEMPERATURE IS JUST RIGHT?

Simply set the refrigerator control to a colder/warmer setting, allowing 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize. This won’t affect the temperature in your freezer.

Please note that it’s normal for your freezer to temporarily seem warmer if the door has been opened frequently. If warm air has been allowed in to the freezer, leave the door closed for awhile – the temperature will return to its desired setting.

WHY DOES MY REFRIGERATOR SEEM TO RUN TOO MUCH, OR FOR TOO LONG?

Your refrigerator might seem to run more than normal if:

• The room or outdoor temperature is hot. It's normal for the refrigerator to work harder, and run longer, under these conditions.
• You use the ice maker, which can cause the unit to run more.
• The door has been opened frequently. If warm air has been allowed in to the refrigerator, simply leave the door closed for awhile-the temperature will return to its desired setting.
• Your refrigerator doors need to be completely closed.
• Your refrigerator has recently been disconnected for a period of time. After it starts up again, it will work harder to cool down completely (which can take up to 12 hours).
To stabilize, set your freezer control to a warmer setting, until your refrigerator is at a comfortable setting, and allow 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN REFRIGERATOR STYLES?

French door models feature a two-door refrigerator on top and freezer drawer on the bottom. The lower freezer is a pull-out basket. Many French door models also offer filtered ice and water dispensers in the door.

Side-by-side models feature two doors; the freezer is on the left and the refrigerator is on the right. The simple, yet stylish design makes it easy to organize and find items. Often they have ice and water dispensers in the door, and they work well when you don’t have a lot of space for the door to swing open.

Top freezer models with the freezer on top are good for smaller kitchens, offering roomy storage on wide shelves and a lower cost of operation. The direction the door opens can often be reversed to meet your specific needs.

IS IT NORMAL TO HEAR A POPPING OR CRACKING SOUND WHEN THE FREEZER MOTOR COMES ON?

Yes, this is normal. These sounds can be caused by the freezer’s metal parts as they expand and contract with temperature changes, or by the circulation of the refrigerant that’s used to cool the freezer. The sounds will fade or disappear entirely as your freezer continues to run.

IF MY REFRIGERATOR’S COMPRESSOR ISN’T RUNNING, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If the compressor isn’t running, it might simply be because your refrigerator is in defrost mode. This is normal and can last up to 30 minutes.

You can also check the following:
• Be sure that your cooling system is turned on.
• Be sure your refrigerator’s power cord is securely plugged into the outlet. Also, it is recommended that you not plug your refrigerator into a GFCI outlet (an outlet that has a “TEST” and “RESET” button).
• Consider replacing your circuit or fuse with a 15-amp time-delay fuse. A time-delay fuse accepts a momentary overload (as when the compressor cycle is on) for a short period of time without blowing.
• You may want to reset your circuit breaker.

WHY AM I NOT GETTING ICE FROM MY ICE DISPENSER?

If no ice is coming out of your refrigerator’s ice dispenser, it might be because there is not enough ice in the ice maker. To make sure your freezer is producing enough ice:

• Be sure your water supply is connected to the refrigerator (see the Installation Instructions).
• Check that the ice maker is turned on. After ice is made, your dispenser should work.
• Turn your freezer control to a colder setting, so that ice will be made more quickly. After ice is made, your dispenser should work.
• If your refrigerator is equipped with a Fast Ice™ setting or a Fast Freeze™ button, you can turn on either of these features to help make ice more quickly.
• Open the water line valve. Allow enough time for ice to be made; when it has been made, the dispenser should work.
• Be sure that your freezer door is closed.
Note: If the ice dispenser’s paddle has been held in for four to five minutes, the motor will become overloaded. It will reset in approximately three minutes, after which you can get ice from the dispenser.

WHAT IS INDUCTION AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

With faster, more responsive heating, more energy-efficient cooking and easier cleaning, induction takes cooking to a whole new level. It combines the benefits of gas and electric cooktops – merging with the power of gas with the easy cleanup of electric.

Using electromagnetic energy, heat is transferred directly to the cookware, so the cooktop remains cooler. And induction allows for more precise control when cooking – you can instantly adjust the heat to a delicate simmer or bring it to a quick boil.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY INDUCTION COOKTOP DOESN’T SEEM TO BE HEATING?

If your induction cooktop doesn’t seem to be heating, it might be because:
• You need to check the placement of your cookware. If you have an induction cooktop, be sure that the bottom of your pot or pan is large enough for the cooking zone you’re using, and that it is centered on it.
• Your cookware isn’t compatible with an induction cooktop. Our induction cooktop surfaces are compatible with most cookware you might use—if a magnet sticks to the bottom of your pot or pan, it will work on an induction cooktop.
• The wiring is not complete. Contact your local dealer, installing agent, or authorized service provider, or contact Electrolux at 1-877-4 ELECTROLUX.

WHAT CAN I DO TO ENSURE THE BEST RESULTS WHEN COOKING WITH MY INDUCTION COOKTOP?

There are many factors that can affect cooking, but you can help ensure best results by following these recommendations:

• Use heavier, high-quality cookware that is suitable for induction cooktops.
The thicker outer ring each cooking zone is helpful to determine the maximum pan size.
• Adjust the recipe's suggested temperature or cooking time. Your induction cooktop provides exceptional temperature control that allows you to adjust heat with greater accuracy than gas or electric cooktops, especially at lower settings. Perfect for melting chocolate and cooking delicate foods and sauces.

WHAT TYPE OF POTS AND PANS SHOULD I USE WITH MY INDUCTION COOKTOP?

Electrolux induction hybrid cooktops include a combination of electric elements that are compatible with all cookware and induction elements that are compatible with most cookware. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the pot or pan, it will work with induction cookware.

IF MY DRYER IS MAKING RATTLING OR CLANKING SOUNDS, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The rattling or clanking sound in your dryer might be caused by foreign objects in the drum (such as coins or safety pins). Stop the dryer and check for any objects.

These sounds may also be caused by belt buckles or other metal fasteners on items in the load. Fastening any buckles or similar items and turning garments inside out will help to reduce these sounds and protect the dryer’s drum.

Finally, check that your dryer is in a level position and sitting evenly on all sides – from front to back and side to side.

CAN I DO ANYTHING TO HELP DECREASE WRINKLES IN MY CLOTHES?

If you have a Perfect Steam™ Dryer, its advanced technology will remove wrinkles and freshen clothes. You can also select its “Add Steam” option with many cycles.

In general, for best results when drying your clothes, follow these steps:
• Load the drum so that it’s 1/3 to 1/2 full. To decrease wrinkling, clothes need room to tumble freely.
• Select the appropriate cycle setting and temperature. Use the Permanent Press cycle and follow fabric care labels for proper temperature setting. Generally you’ll want to select low or medium heat and the Normal Dry setting. Select More Dry for loads requiring more time, and Less Dry if you want the load to be damp dry for ironing. Additionally, some dryer models offer the Extended Tumble cycle, which is an extended cool down with signals to remind you to remove the load.
• Remove items from the dryer when the cycle is done. As soon as the cycle is complete, hang or fold your items. To remove wrinkles from clean, dry clothes, select the Refresher Cycle (available on some models) or tumble them on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
• Clean the lint screen after every use.
• Add a fabric softener sheet to the load.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY DRYER STOPS OPERATING?

If your dryer isn’t operating, it might be because:
• The motor is overheated. Overloading the dryer can cause its motor to overheat. If this is the case, allow the motor to cool down for 30 minutes. You might need to reduce the size of the load—the average washer load will fill the dryer drum 1/3 to 1/2 full. If letting the motor cool down and reducing the load size does not resolve the issue, contact your authorized service provider or contact Electrolux at 1-877-4 ELECTROLUX.
• The thermal limiter switch is activated. On electric dryers, a thermal limiter switch automatically turns off the motor in the unlikely event of an overheated situation. If this is the case, you’ll need to contact a service provider to replace the thermal limiter switch.

MY DRYER IS RUNNING BUT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE HEATING. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

There are two house circuits or fuses in an electric dryer's circuit. If one of them is tripped or blown, the drum may still turn but the heater will not operate. If this is the case, you’ll need to reset the circuit breaker or replace the house fuse.

Additionally, you can check the following:

•Cycle or temperature setting. Check the cycle selector. Please note the following cycles will tumble with low heat: Delicate, Active Wear, Touch Up, and Perfect Steam™.
• Outlet wiring. Have a qualified electrician verify that the voltage supplied (240v) is correct.
• Gas supply valve. Be sure the gas supply valve to a gas dryer is open.
• Gas supply tank. If you have a gas dryer and your LP gas tank is empty, refill or replace the tank. If there has been an interruption in the natural gas supply, call your natural gas company.
• Air supply around a gas dryer. The dryer needs space around it for proper ventilation to support the gas burner. Do not stack or place laundry or rugs against the front or back of the dryer

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO CLEAN MY DRYER OR THE LINT SCREEN/FILTER?

It’s important to clean the lint screen/filter before or after drying each load of laundry. Excessive lint buildup can block the flow of air, cause overheating, and result in a fire in some dryers. To help prevent fires:

• Clean the lint screen/filter before or after drying each load of laundry.
• Regularly inspect and clean the outdoor exhaust opening.
• At least every 18 months have an authorized service technician clean inside the dryer cabinet, especially between the drum and cabinet, the lint screen housing, and exhaust duct, where lint can build up.
• Replace flexible plastic or foil, accordion-type ducting material with rigid or semi-rigid metal duct.
• Don’t dry items that have been previously cleaned in or soaked with gasoline, cleaning solvents, or other flammable substances.

MY DRYER SEEMS TO TAKE A LONG TIME TO DRY A LOAD OF CLOTHES. CAN I DO ANYTHING TO ADJUST THIS?

If your dryer seems to be taking too long to dry your load, check the following or take the following steps:
• Clean the lint screen after every use. You can also periodically wash the lint screen in warm, soapy water to remove any residue, then dry it thoroughly before using it again. Note: Do not operate the dryer without the lint screen in place, as this could damage the dryer.
• Do not dry a load that’s too big or too small. If your dryer is over-loaded or under-loaded, it will take longer to dry your clothes. Items need room to tumble freely in order to dry well, and you also need enough items in the drum for proper tumbling.
• Check the cycle or temperature setting. If the Gentle Tumble option and a low temperature is selected, the dryer will tumble with low heat and reverse the drum throughout the cycle. Generally you’ll want to select low or medium heat and the Normal Dry setting. Select More Dry for loads requiring more time. A medium-heat or low-heat setting is safe for permanent press, delicate, and knit items, but will require longer drying periods.
• Check for adequate ventilation. If your dryer is installed in a closet or under a counter, it might not be getting the ventilation needed for proper drying.
• Be sure you’re connected to a 240-volt circuit. An electric dryer that is connected to a 208-volt circuit will require 20% more drying time.
• Sort the items you’re drying. Dry items of similar fabric and weight in the same load.
• Take humidity into account. Drying times will be longer in areas where humidity is high. You can use a dehumidifier near the dryer if needed.
• Check the dryer’s moisture sensor bars. To locate the moisture sensor bars, please refer to the Use and Care Manual for your dryer. Fabric softener sheets can leave a residue on the moisture sensor bars in the dryer, which can inhibit their ability to accurately sense wet clothes. Remove the residue by wiping the moisture sensor bars with rubbing alcohol.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY DRYER DOES NOT START?

If your dryer does not start, it might be due to one of the following reasons:
•The start button needs to be pushed down long enough to engage. Push the start button and hold it for two seconds.
•The cycle selector knob is not quite at the start position. To be sure it’s correctly positioned, simply turn the knob until the indicator is a little further into the cycle.
•The dryer door is open. The door must be completely closed for the dryer to run.
•The power cord may not be plugged in or the connection may be loose. Check to be sure the plug fits tightly into the wall outlet. Note: Do not use an extension cord.
•A fuse is blown in your home or a circuit breaker tripped. If this is the case, reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse (but do not increase the fuse capacity). If you have an overloaded circuit, contact a qualified electrician to correct it.

WHAT IS PERFECT CONVECT3®, AND HOW DOES CONVECTION COOKING WORK?

Electrolux ovens offer Perfect Convect3®, which features a third convection element for consistently even results, up to 30% faster cooking times, and even more baking options.

THE DIRT'S NOT GOING INTO THE BAG OR DUST CUP. HOW DO I FIX THIS?

If your vacuum has a detachable hose, make sure it’s firmly connected. Make sure the hose is emptying the dirt into the bag or the dust cup. On bagged models, the hose needs to protrude into the bag. If these connections look right, then check the hose for a clog or obstruction.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CHANGE MY VACUUM'S BAG OR DUST CUP?

Generally, you should change your vacuum bag once a month and empty your dust cup when it is two-thirds full. We recommend more frequent bag changes if your home is large, if you have children and/or pets or if there is heavy foot traffic in your home. You should also change the bag more than once a month if you’re cleaning fine dust and debris, since both reduce the filtration through the bag. Change the bag immediately if the dirt is above the line printed on the bag. A bag change indicator is activated on some Electrolux models when the bag is full.

WHEN DOES THE FILTER NEED TO BE REPLACED?

It varies, depending on your model's filtration type. Micron Filtration is not a separate filter, but is part of the bag itself. So, if you change bags monthly and use Electrolux brand bags, your filtration should remain powerful. True HEPA filters should be replaced every six months to maintain peak filtration. The small fabric filters that cover the back of the bagless cassette and the entrance into the casing beneath the cassette can be rinsed out, dried thoroughly and put back into place. They should be replaced after a year. Washable HEPA filters should be cleaned out approximately every eight weeks. Always make sure that washable filters are completely dry before you put them back in the vacuum.
