A shirt dress is a must-have piece in my closet—I consider it a modern-day staple, and have several. There’s so much you can do with a shirt dress: I love its versatility and how easily the look can be changed entirely by adding layers and swapping out accessories.
Look 1: Add Patterned Shoes
One of the best things about a shirt dress is that it can stand on its own and make an entire outfit. The vertical stripes in this one give a nod to menswear while the design has a nice balance of masculine and feminine style. I paired it with leopard ankle boots here because mixing patterns is a fun way to add personality to a look.
Look 2: Pair It With Pants
Adding jeans or leggings underneath the shirt dress—while leaving some of the buttons undone—changes the look completely and makes it ultra-urban. The studded ankle boots and distressed denim bring a little edge to the classic dress.
Look 3: Make It Casual
An army jacket not only adds a layer of warmth, it also brings in a breezy, comfortable note. The basic black ankle boots finishes this look off to make it perfect for everyday wear.
