How can I ensure my glassware and flatware emerge as streak free as possible?

Features like the Perfect Stemware™ cycle help ensure you have spotlessly clean stemware. To further help your dishes emerge from the dishwasher spot-free and with no cloudiness, try the following:
• If you have hard water, you may need a water softener. To determine your water hardness, contact your water supplier.
• Avoid overloading or improperly loading your dishwasher.
• Use the appropriate amount of fresh detergent. Sometimes old detergent doesn’t fully dissolve – and this can result in streaks or spots.
• Be sure the rinse aid dispenser is full.
• You can check with your local utility to ensure that the water pressure in your home is between 20 and 120 psi (pounds per square inch).
• Be sure that the water coming into your dishwasher is hot water. The water should be at least 120°F (49°C).

How do I clean and care for my dishwasher?

To keep your dishwasher as clean as possible, follow these steps:

Outside: Occasionally wipe the outside surfaces of your dishwasher with a mild, nonabrasive detergent and water, then rinse and dry.

Stainless steel door: Clean the stainless steel door and handle with hot, soapy water and a dishcloth, then rinse with clean water and a cloth. Do not use harsh scrubbing cleaners – use only kitchen cleaners made especially for cleaning stainless steel.

Stainless steel interior: Remove spots on the door and inside the dishwasher with a damp, nonabrasive cloth.

Stainless steel filters: Your dishwasher is equipped with a state-of-the-art wash system. Periodically, you may need to clean the glass trap filter and the large food particle trap in order to maximize your dishwasher’s performance. The glass trap filter is located in the center of the large food particle trap, and is designed to collect pieces of broken glass, straws, bones, and pits. To remove items in the glass trap filter, grasp the handle, lift it out, empty it, and replace it.

Tip: You can use a water filter attached to your dishwasher to help prevent iron deposits (which appear as a yellow or brown film) from forming on your dishes.

What causes the appearance of etching on my dishes?

Etching can be caused by using too much detergent or by soft water, either of which can produce a film that cannot be removed. To help prevent this:
• Adjust the amount of detergent you use based on the hardness or softness of your water.
• Lower your water temperature, but be sure to keep it above the minimum recommended temperature of 120°F.

Reminder: The temperature of water entering your dishwasher may drop considerably in the winter, depending on where your plumbing runs in relation to the outside walls of your home. Check to see that your water temperature can reach at least 120°F (49°C).

What can I do to best ensure that my dishes are dry after the dishwasher is finished running?

The high-efficiency fan of the Luxury-Dry™ System produces outstanding drying results. In addition, to ensure that your dishes are dry after your dishwasher cycle is complete, follow these steps:
• Be sure the racks are loaded correctly. Cups and bowls should be loaded facing down, to allow for maximum drying and to prevent water from collecting in them.
• Be sure the rinse aid dispenser is full, because the rinse aid is a very important part of maximizing your dishwasher’s drying capability. Check the low rinse aid indicator on your control panel and if it is low, refill the dispenser located on your dishwasher’s door.
• Check to see that your water temperature can reach at least 120°F (49°C).

Here’s another tip: Simply use the hi-temp or sanitize setting for increased drying performance.

Why is there water in the bottom of my dishwasher?

What should I do if it appears that my dishwasher is leaking?

In the unlikely event a leak should occur, the Leak Detection System should detect it and immediately stop and drain the dishwasher while sounding an audible and visible alert.

To help prevent leaks, you can:
• Be sure to wipe up any spilled rinse aid, because it can cause excess foam which might overflow.
• Use only fresh detergent designed for automatic dishwashers, and be sure to carefully measure and use the correct amount.
• Make sure your dishwasher is level on the floor.

What does Energy Star® qualified mean?

Products that are ENERGY STAR® qualified are equivalent to or better than standard products, with one important difference: They use less energy. To earn the ENERGY STAR® rating, products must meet strict energy efficiency criteria set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the U.S. Department of Energy. Because they use less energy, these products save money on your electricity bill and help protect the environment by reducing harmful emissions from power plants. Plus, you get all of the features and quality you expect.

Sometimes my dishwasher doesn’t seem to drain all the water out of the bottom. What should I do?

If it seems like your dishwasher should drain faster, try the following:
• If your dishwasher is connected to a garbage disposal, run the disposal to clear the drain system.
• If you have a new garbage disposal, or if it’s the first time you’ve used your dishwasher, the “knock-out” plug might need to be removed from the disposal. (This step can occasionally be overlooked during installation.)
• Check the drain hose to be sure it is free of kinks.
• Make sure the wash cycle is complete, and not paused.

My dishwasher cycle takes longer than I expected. Is that normal?

Electrolux dishwashers have a variety of cycles for you to choose from, depending on your cleaning needs and preferred timing. The different options can impact the time it takes for a wash cycle to complete. Some options that impact the running time of a cycle include:

• The delay start option, which will postpone the start of the cycle until the time you have selected. It is designed to allow you to control when your dishwasher runs – choose to have it run it when it’s most convenient for you, or to coincide with lower energy rates.
• The sanitize option, which takes longer to wash and dry. This option uses higher heat for maximum cleaning, and offers maximum drying capabilities.
It can also be normal for the wash cycle to be momentarily delayed if water needs to be heated to the appropriate temperature.
